Efektivitas Radix Astragali dalam Menurunkan Kadar Gula Darah pada Penderita Dibetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus adalah penyakit metabolik salah satu tandanya adalah peningkatan kadar glukosa darah akibat gangguan sekresi insulin pada tubuh. Radix astragali telah lama digunakan sebagai herbal yang berpotensi meningkatkan metabolisme glukosa dan sensitivitas insulin. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui efektivitas Radix astragali untuk membantu menurunkan kadar gula darah pada penderita diabetes mellitus. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain studi kasus eksperimental dengan 12 subjek yang dipilih secara purposive dan dibagi menjadi kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan. Kelompok perlakuan diberi Herbal Radix Astragali sebanyak 3 gram setiap pagi selama 21 hari, sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak menerima perlakuan. Variabel yang diukur adalah gula darah puasa, HbA1c, dan berat badan. Analisis yang digunakan adalah uji T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat penurunan signifikan kadar gula darah puasa pada kelompok perlakuan (p=0,029), sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak mengalami perubahan signifikan (p=0,798). Nilai HbA1c juga menurun signifikan pada kelompok perlakuan (p=0,049), tetapi tidak pada kelompok kontrol (p=0,234). Penurunan berat badan pada kelompok perlakuan tidak signifikan secara statistik, meskipun terjadi selisih mean sebesar 0,5 kg. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian Radix Astragali selama 21 hari efektif menurunkan kadar gula darah puasa dan HbA1c pada penderita diabetes mellitus, sehingga dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai terapi komplementer dalam pengelolaan diabetes mellitus tipe 2.
