Abstract

Media sosial merupakan salah satu bentuk perkembangan teknologi yang mempengaruhi individu dalam memperoleh informasi dan berhubungan dengan orang lain. Menurut data riset APJII (2016), pengguna internet 89,70% adalah mahasiswa. Pola hidup dan aktivitas sehari-hari di masa sekarang dipengaruhi oleh media sosial. Hal ini dapat memicu terjadinya fear of missing out pada mahasiswa pengguna media sosial. Namun Gerson dkk. (2016) berpendapat bahwa media sosial dapat mengukur tingkat subjective well-being pada individu karena media sosial memudahkan mereka untuk mengunggah topik atau konten yang ingin diunggah secara bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh subjective well-being terhadap fear of missing out pada mahasiswa pengguna media sosial di Kota Bandung. Terdapat 136 mahasiswa pengguna media sosial yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah non-probability sampling. Kuesioner dalam penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Satisfaction with Life Scale, Scale of Positive and Negative Experience, dan The Fear of Missing Out Scale.
